Joy of Music Program (JOMP), Worcester’s Community Music School, serves all ages and levels. The school opened in its new home in January 2002 .

Joy of Music - Worcester's Community Music School was founded in 1986 as a program of music & movement classes for preschoolers by Wendy Webster Ardizzone, the school's current director. Her purpose was to help young children develop a life-long relationship with music by giving them a joyful and solid musical foundation on which to build in a warm and non-competitive learning environment. The early bird gets the worm… ➡️🐛

We have some hungry baby birds nesting (and camouflaging) in our drainpipe this spring! They get to listen to beautiful music from the studios while they eat 😊

Be like our baby robins and register for summer lessons - last day for priority placement for current students is this Monday, June 1 🗓️🎶

Looks like we might not see “a drop of golden sun” for a while after today, so you may want to save this reel! The kids in Little Voices are sure to bring a smile to your face even on a rainy day 😊

🎶 Music starts with connection.

From babies shaking a tambourine for the first time to children singing, dancing, clapping, and learning rhythms together, JOMP Start classes provide a pathway for families with infants through age 7, with each step building on a child’s innate musicality.

These moments from our spring Saturday classes capture what we celebrate at JOMP every day: joyful learning shared together ❤️

Want to experience it for yourself? Join us at JOMPfest on May 30 for an afternoon of family-friendly music-making, activities, and performances throughout the school.

We can’t wait to welcome the community into our space 🌻

From their holiday concert in December to working with Midori in March, this year’s JYO musicians have grown not just as performers, but as friends.

Last week’s spring concert here at home was a celebration of that community: laid-back swing from our high school jazz combo, beautiful ensemble playing from the orchestra, and a virtuosic performance of the Mendelssohn Violin Concerto by concertmaster .

We also celebrated our 10 graduating seniors 🥹 with a sunflower cake and plenty of JYO family spirit - including a few younger family members who joined the fun, too ➡️

So proud of these students and the memories and music they’ve created together this season. Shoutout to JOMP faculty members , , , and especially for guiding them through it all ❤️

What a wonderful way to celebrate Mother’s Day and conclude this year’s Faculty Concert Series.

Thank you to violinist Aaron Packard and cellist Sara Wilkins for an engaging and expressive performance in the Joseph & Jordan Shapiro Concert Hall featuring works by A.R. Thomas, Villa-Lobos, Benjamin Godard, and Erwin Schulhoff.

We’re grateful to everyone who joined us for this special afternoon of music and community, and we thank all of this year’s faculty and guest performers, patrons, families, students, and sponsors for a wonderful concert season. We look forward to sharing more music with you next year! 🌻🎶

Students of Nancy Ackerman lit up their 12th annual Spring Spree 🌷🎶

From duets to full ensemble (with a few parents joining in!), this growing tradition brought together music, community, and joy—ending, as always, with their favorite grand finale. Bravi tutti! 👏🏼
