Worcester Polytechnic Institute's ASBMB student chapter is determined to bring together and promote the life science community at WPI.

This student chapter of the ASBMB is an organization dedicated to fostering the growing life science community at WPI. Through networking opportunities, professional development, career and research presentations, internship panels, mentoring, and other events and activities, the ASBMB hopes to provide extensive resources to those undergraduate students interested in the biological and chemical fields.

WPI's ASBMB Student Chapter was incredibly thrilled to welcome Dr. Arne Gericke, distinguished John C. Metzger Professor and Department Head of WPI Chemistry & Biochemistry, this afternoon for a faculty seminar. Our organization and other members from the CBC department were honored to have him present his research, and we are looking forward to working with him again!

The ASBMB student chapter was honored to host its second event of A-term yesterday! We were so excited to have representatives from the Broad Institute talk about the recruitment process and about their experiences in industry. Also, student representation at the event was phenomenal, and it was especially great to see a variety of majors including biochemistry, bioinformatics/biotechnology, and computer science. Special thanks to Sara Kosmaczewski, a WPI alum and postdoc at the Broad Institute, for discussing her journey from graduation to finding her career.

Special thanks to everyone in attendance at the ASBMB-sponsored seminar featuring WPI alum, Dr. Richard Durand. We are grateful to have heard his story and look forward to collaborating with him and his company, SunChemical, in the future. The event was a great success due to the incredible help from the WPI Chemistry/Biochemistry Department. We look forward to hosting more events that bring together students, faculty, and alumni to discuss careers and research in life sciences.
