WELCOME Stephen Murray!!! A composer, playwright, music educator, and musical theatre professional with more than 40 years of experience helping young people discover their voices and confidence as performers. He holds a Doctor of Musical Arts in Music Education from Boston University and is currently Director of Music at Notre Dame Academy in Worcester.
Stephen has taught vocal music and voice to students from elementary school through high school and has worked as a private voice instructor, choral director, vocal coach, musical director, pianist, and theatre director throughout Central Massachusetts. He is a member of the Board of Directors of Calliope Productions in Boylston where he has directed summer youth musical theatre programs.
As a composer and playwright, Stephen has created more than 40 published plays and musicals, with his work produced across the United States and internationally. His recent work includes The Rocket Man, Casey at the Bat, and numerous musicals written specifically for young performers.
Stephen’s teaching philosophy is simple: develop strong, healthy vocal technique while helping each student become a more confident and expressive performer. He believes lessons should be challenging, encouraging, and—most importantly—fun.
