Theta Chi (Epsilon Chapter)

Theta Chi Fraternity at Worcester Polytechnic Institute (Epsilon Chapter) Epsilon Chapter of Theta Chi was established at WPI in April 1909.

Theta Chi is the third oldest national fraternity represented on the WPI campus, and within our fraternity as a whole, Epsilon is the chapter in longest continuous operation. In April 2009, the alumni and undergraduate brothers of the chapter will celebrate the 100th anniversary of the chapter’s founding. As part of that commemoration, the chapter alumni will announce the establishment of the Community Service Scholarship and a fund-raising campaign to provide a permanent endowment for annual scholarship awards. The annual scholarship awards will be administered by the Epsilon Chapter Alumni Association, a non-profit foundation dedicated to encouraging and supporting the educational goals and leadership-development objectives of Epsilon Chapter and Theta Chi

For this week’s Theta Chi Thursday, we’re featuring John Gerrity! Bringing an uplifting attitude and an unmatched positive energy to the chapter, John’s presence adds a level of warmth and camaraderie that is hard to match.

Currently tackling Mechanical Engineering while pursuing Fire Protection Engineering, John balances a demanding engineering curriculum with essential leadership around the house as our Kitchen Steward. No matter what he sets his mind to—academics, chapter operations, or personal goals—he’s genuinely always killing it. Known for being exceptionally personable and kind, he takes pride in keeping the chapter running smoothly and making the house a welcoming place for everyone.

Outside the classroom, John is constantly on the move and in pursuit of a new athletic challenge. You’ll frequently spot him dominating on the basketball court, getting games in on the pickleball court, putting in work lifting at the gym, swimming laps, or hitting the slopes for a weekend of skiing. Even with his busy schedule, he loves to master his craft in the kitchen, cooking up great meals or simply kicking back and hanging out with the brothers.

Between his tireless drive to excel, uplifting spirit, and genuine commitment to the guys, he is a massive asset and an absolute joy to be around.

For this week’s Theta Chi Thursday, we’re featuring Charles Allison! Bringing ambition, leadership, and unmatched involvement across campus, Charles’s presence in the chapter adds a level of drive that is hard to match.

Currently majoring in Biology & Biotechnology with aspirations of entering life science consulting, he is constantly making an impact at WPI. Serving as our chapter’s Philanthropy Chair, working as a Connections PA, and representing the student body on the Provost Student Advisory Board, his leadership spans far and wide. You’ll also spot him creating content as a WPI Social Media Assistant or greeting folks at the front desk in the Dean of Students Office. On top of all that, he channels his entrepreneurial mindset into his startup, Allison, dedicated to making lab equipment more affordable and accessible for smaller biology labs.

When he manages to step away from his packed campus schedule, Charles is always staying active and creative. Whether he’s putting in work lifting at the gym, reaching new summits on a weekend hike, or hunting down unique vintage finds while thrifting. Even with a full plate, he consistently finds time to prioritize giving back and kicking back with the brothers.

Between his entrepreneurial spirit, tireless campus involvement, and genuine commitment to the guys, he is a massive asset and an inspiration to have around.

OXFL 2026 was a huge success. After a full week of table sittings and our flag football tournament, Theta Chi and Alpha Tau Omega raised over $2,000 for our philanthropies. Thank you to everyone who donated, bought food, played, volunteered, and supported us throughout the week, and a huge shoutout to ATO for partnering with us and helping make our first OXFL one to remember.

All the money raised for this tournament goes out to the USO and the troops as well as the AFSP (American Foundation of Su***de Prevention).

Thanks again to Alpha Tau Omega and everyone who contributed.

For this week’s Theta Chi Thursday, we’re featuring Addison Last! Pursuing his BS/MS in Mechanical Engineering, Addison’s work ethic and dedication both inside the classroom and across campus set a standard that is hard to match.

Whether he is leading projects for Formula SAE, conducting research in the AVMI laboratory, mentoring students as a PLA in Washburn lab, or competing with the club lacrosse team, Addison is constantly pushing himself to take on new challenges. Outside of academics, you can catch him out on the football field, backpacking on the trails, fishing, gardening, following rally motorsports, or in the garage bringing his 1995 SN95 Mustang GT convertible back to life.

Even with his packed schedule, he always shows up for the house. Serving as one of our Risk Managers, Addison embodies the true spirit of brotherhood always stepping up to look out for the guys and have everyone’s backs.

Brothers Ethan Dean, Zach Higgins, Sonny Turco, and Jack Wildgoose, all class of 2027, traveled to San Antonio, Texas this past weekend for the 170th Convention of Theta Chi. Hard work paid off as Epsilon was awarded the Alter Award, the highest honor achievable for a chapter amongst other awards.

A huge thank you to alumni brothers Tony Ganchi (‘02), Bill Lucas (‘98), Pete Mulvihull (‘78), and Dave Wildgoose (‘95), who also attended and received awards recognizing their continued commitment and dedication to our fraternity.

We’re bringing this momentum back to campus. See everyone in Tampa Bay for 2028!

2026 Summer Retreat was one for the books! A weekend on the S**o River in Maine filled with hiking, fishing, campfires, and so much more. Despite our busy schedules, we came together to relax, make memories, and strengthen our bonds. This time spent together really shows what true brotherhood is all about.

For this week’s Theta Chi Thursday, we are proud to spotlight David Saxton! Bringing a disciplined mindset and a sharp focus to everything he does, David is a powerhouse within the chapter.

Hailing from Saugus, MA, David is currently navigating the complexities of a Computer Science major. Beyond the code, he serves as our Risk Manager and is a dedicated member of Army ROTC, where his leadership and commitment to excellence truly shine.

When he’s not in the lab or training, you’ll likely find David pushing his limits in the gym or pursuing his passion for finance. He also has a unique talent for mechanical projects, spending his downtime working on cars and motorcycles. Whether he’s analyzing market trends or under the hood of a vehicle, David brings a level of drive that inspires everyone around him.

For this week’s Theta Chi Thursday, we’re featuring Nathaniel VonRuden! Bringing a sharp mind and high energy to the chapter, Nathaniel’s presence adds a level of versatility that is hard to match.

Currently tackling the rigors of Mechanical Engineering with a minor in Fire Protection, he balances a heavy academic load with a true passion for the game. You’ll frequently spot him holding it down on the ice for the WPI Club Ice Hockey team, or dominating on the soccer field.

When he’s not in the rink or the lab, Nathaniel is always in pursuit of a new outdoor adventure. Whether he’s out on the course working on his golf game, casting a line while fishing, or reaching new summits on a weekend hike. Even with his busy schedule, he finds time to sharpen his strategy over a game of cards or simply relax and hang out with the brothers.

Between his drive for excellence and his genuine commitment to the guys, he is a massive asset and a joy to be around.
