No one escapes a little field work! 🌱 Last week, our From the Ground Up Project Director, Professor Doug Jackson-Smith, was out collecting clover samples on a beautiful fall day in northeast Ohio.
This work supports on-farm research led by local organic farmers who are exploring how harvesting their leguminous cover crops compares to plowing them under in terms of soil health and crop yield.

In mid-September FTGUp's Research and Engagement Coordinator, Kamal Deep, attended the University of Missouri SW-REEC Career Exploration and Public Field Day. It was inspiring to see so many students eager to learn about agricultural conservation practices and how farmers can help drive research and innovation.

Join Alex Jefferies, From the Ground Up Project Manager, as she gets ready for another day in the corn fields of central Ohio. 🌽
Why? The farmers in this research group want to find out how different fungicide application practices impact their soil health and crop yield. That means our team is out in the fields each week, tracking disease pressure, collecting data, and dodging plenty of mosquitoes along the way!
