This week’s edition of The Wooster Voice features a group of Econ and G&IS Econ- concentration students in the process of forming a new group to support and uplift the voices of women & gender minorities in the department.

The idea came when, after working together in a number of classroom and experiential learning environments, "they realized that the support they were providing each other was a valuable asset. Not wanting this network of support and comradery to end after they all graduated, they decided to work towards formalizing their activities in the form of a club."

The students are advised by three of the Department of Economics' wonderful professors, Melanie Long, Brooke Krause, and Huiting Tian. They are now in the midst of the charter review process and hope to become an official club later this year. Congratulations to Dr. Kent Kille on his newly released book, The United Nations: 75 Years of Promoting Peace, Human Rights, and Development. The book, coauthored with Dr. Alynna Lyon of the University of New Hampshire, serves as a key resource for anyone interested in the United Nations, global issues, or world politics. It provides accessible and comprehensive coverage of the history, growth, and development of ideas and institutions governing the globe.

You can find more about the book here: https://lnkd.in/dSM9PYz

We are excited for you, Dr. Kille, and so glad as always that we get to claim you as a member of our wonderful G&IS faculty.

Marking its 75th anniversary in 2020, the United Nations strives to establish and maintain peace, security, sustainability, and well-being around the world.

Thanks to all of our majors and faculty for coming out to our major declaration party yesterday to welcome all of our newly declared students into the department! Click through to see some very focused and determined pictures of our teams competing for the win — eventually secured by the "We Be GIS'ing" team. Congrats guys!
