Wow! We did it! Beacon Charter School won the Mayor’s award for our float at this year’s AutumnFest.

A huge thank you to our incredible sponsors: Valley Transportation, Convergint Technologies LLC, Espanola Family Chiropractic, Blackstone Valley Prevention Coalition, Olly’s Pizzeria, and Coletta’s Furniture. And a special shoutout to Navigant Credit Union for being our amazing partner and supporting us on the big day. You guys rock.

Our students showcased their creativity with the theme of “Beacon Spirit,” complete with whimsical umbrellas, stunning artwork, and fabulous balloons.

A heartfelt thank you to our committee members, Mrs. Didomenico and Marlon Carey, along with our dedicated volunteers: Becca & Christine Arel, Marge Blanchette, Pete Boland and Eric Carpenter. You all went above and beyond, and we couldn’t have done it without you.

We are so grateful to Mayor Chris Beauchamp for honoring us with the Mayor’s Award. Our students were thrilled to see their hard work recognized.

Hey Rhode Island students! 👋

What makes YOU show up for school? Share your story through art! 🎨

The Rhode Island Department of Education (RIDE) and the Rhode Island State Council on the Arts (RISCA) are partnering up to launch "The Art of Attendance," a statewide student art contest that invites K-12 students to creatively explore what inspires them to show up, connect, learn, and thrive at school. Whether it’s a favorite teacher, friends, sports, or something completely unique – every story matters, and we want to see it! 🖼️

Ready to participate? Read the contest rules and submit your artwork here: https://www.attendancemattersri.org/artofattendance
