Thank you to everyone who came out today to the state tournament! It was a long day and not with all the outcomes we had hoped for either.

Having said that, the teams were filled with confident kids, who took risks, and pushed themselves out of their comfort zones. They were clever and funny. Kind and welcoming to others.

Special shout outs to Elliot Collamore who won third place in the virtual reality welding contest! And, to Jacob Lichman-Paul who was awarded design co-credit for the odyssey Maine pin this year!

I’m a proud coach.

A favorite part of the OM tournaments are the comments on the sticky notes I get to pass on to the team. These comments highlight areas the judges felt shone brightly! Please share with the kids if you think they will be interested. I’ll post information about the final scores once they are available (Coaches don’t see spontaneous scores till the next day) -including for the Antics team & the final winning spot for division two third place.

Thank you again, your support makes this happen!

Last night, in one hour, these kids put together a creative and direct presentation for the PTA. They were awarded $1,000 and offered to come back if fundraising slows and they need up to another $1,000. Thank you WCS PTA for the support!

We are now just under $4,000 away from the overall goal for this team plus two adults to attend WORLDS next month.

We have 4/24 PJ Day at WCS, a pending royalty grant application for $1,000, and promised sponsorship from a business associate of David Collamore amount TBD.

Please check in with your work, local businesses you frequent, and family/friends to help the team earn the remaining funds. If you need help/support fundraising reach out-I can set you up with ideas and a script.

Other than fundraising we have:

4/26 3-4:30p a PRACTICE at the school (withOUT props and costumes).

4/27 TOURNAMENT in Biddeford-more info on that to come.

Please mark your calendars and reach out with questions.

Car is packed.

Treats are organized (thank you the families bringing food-let’s face it these kids can eat!).

A few surprises for the crew are tucked away (I meant to share them at the last practice but one item got ripped and that caused a delay).

Please drive carefully, keep my cell phone number and the schedule on hand, and stay in touch. See you tomorrow!

Coach’s Diary: Last night I stayed up late reviewing in detail all the paperwork the teams completed for the tournament. This year both teams had to complete their own paperwork with support, but no direct involvement, by the coach. I started to cry when I realized how much ownership these kids took of their performances. They exceeded expectations!

I especially liked reading a persuasive note that one team member wrote highlighting why their team went above and beyond! I was convinced. Copies made and ready for the judges.

Shout out to Georgia, Gracie, and Lily from 7th grade and Addie, Audrey, Lynette, & Gwen from the 5th-6th grade team. EXCELLENT work!

The vibe of this team in a word is “excited”! Practice, tournament talk, and loading up vehicles was the focus of this last practice for the 5th-6th grade team. See you Saturday, please read the tournament email I sent!

Bittersweet last practice for the seventh grade team! To stay with our trend, we missed one teammate.

We had some real talk and connection time, practiced spontaneous, and everyone got to focus on an aspect of their performance that mattered most to them to add final touches on-and there were some new aspects added!

Looking forward to cheering this team on at the tournament! Please read the full tournament email carefully, reach out with questions.

One photo today during the craziest spontaneous practice! This team did an amazing job at communicating, working together, problem solving in real time, and beating the clock. I was very proud of them!

Floor hockey interrupted a bit but the team did three rounds of the performance. It was bumpy, but by the third round it was majorly improved and I started to see the stars in these kiddos rise. I know they can ROCK this if they decide they want it enough.

Next week is the FINAL practice before the tournament. It will be a full dress rehearsal practice. We will also do another round of spontaneous practice. And, I plan to have a little something special for the team to lift them up and bring them together.

Wednesday evening I will attend a tournament meeting and have the full schedule to share with you so you can plan your day. Watch for more info soon….

OM take over of Cafe Creme!!

Thank you to these OM members who took on the task of completing all the team paperwork. The responsibilities for team members increases in division 2 and now the team is responsible for accounting for cost, story line, styling details and the like.

It is necessary for the tournament to do this task, it’s also a pretty cool resume builder!
