So proud of this sweet girl! She completed level 2 of Piano Safari today and is on to level 3! She has worked so hard and is developing such beautiful technique skills! I've loved seeing her push herself to play to the very best of her abilities and truly perfect every piece she learns. What a joy to teach someone who just simply loves to play ❤️

It has been a long while since I have posted but it has been a wonderful spring in the studio! The students have been hard at work finishing up their major scales and prepping classical pieces for the summer recital. We have also been diving into a lot of composition fun to practice reading, writing, and playing various intervals. I'm loving seeing the progress!

The students have been working on memorizing all of their scales and penta-scales (based on age/level). This week I had my first two students complete this challenge!

In order to pass each scale and color their tracking chart - they had to memorize the scale (including correct finger numbers!), play hands separately, and play hands together in parallel and contrary motion. To fully complete the challenge, they spent the last few weeks playing every scale memorized in 3 different orders for me. This required a lot of time and dedication from these two and I am so proud of them! I have also loved seeing the way knowing and understanding these scales well has improved their playing abilities! We'll switch to minor scales next! But first - these two are being rewarded with a short break from scales. 😂

Had a short week of lessons this week - but we had fun!

What a day! Graclyn finished level 2 of Piano Safari this afternoon! Level 2 takes serious commitment from the students as it leads them through learning all of the notes on the music staff, their penta-scales, building strong technique skills, playing hands together, and being able to change hand placements throughout a piece with ease. Graclyn has shown a lot of dedication and work ethic as she has navigated learning these skills and now she is moving into her final method book! Congratulations Graclyn! I am so proud of you!
