Woodstock Community Unit School District 200 http://www.woodstockschools.org Mission: Empowering learners to reach their educational potential

Woodstock Community Unit School District 200 is a recognized and highly respected public school distict serving students in PreKindergarten through grade 12 who live in the northern Illinois communities of Woodstock and portions of Bull Valley, Greenwood, Wonder Lake and unincorporated McHenry County. We offer a comprehensive academic and cocurricular program for children of all abilitiy levels. O

ur students consistently perform above average on state and national standardized tests, and our staff is continually rated our highest strength on community attitude surveys. District 200 was formed in 1969 when two elementary school districts and one high school district consolidated, but education in Woodstock actually dates back to 1847. Today our schools offer an educational program that is based on best practices and innovation but that is also rooted in our 150-year old community. The community of Woodstock is located approximately 55 miles northwest of Chicago and is also within easy access to Milwaukee, Madison and Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. Woodstock is the seat of McHenry County and is within driving distance of over 50 colleges and universities. Its picturesque Town Square has been designated a Historic District and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. A modern well-equipped library, new municipal water park, the historic Opera House, and numerous restaurants, parks and athletic fields provide residents with many leisure opportunities.

“I’ve tried to shape the club around the type of experience I would have wanted when I was in high school. I always wanted the opportunity to work on a classic car or hot rod. When I began teaching at WHS, I saw an opportunity to give my students that experience.” - auto teacher Noah Taylor

The cool Wednesday after-school spot for Blue Streaks, Thunder, and Clay Academy students who aren’t afraid to get their hands dirty is in the back of Woodstock High School. The D200 Auto Club, which meets in the school’s auto shop, is firing on all cylinders with anywhere from 10 to 20 students...

“I hope that this eventually becomes something that athletes, coaches, teachers, families, and the community take pride in and genuinely want to win each year. I’d love for the bragging rights that come with winning the Golden Groundhog to become a fun part of the D200 athletic culture.” Chris Hurckes, Clarity Group Midwest
