End of trip Lobster Bake- owners of Archie's Lobster caught the clams and lobster that morning for the event. What a way to try lobster for the first time. We highly recommend giving them a shot if you are on Mt. Desert Island.

Today we visited Woods Hole, known around the world for its contributions to marine science. Included was a morning spent aboard a research vessel learning the ins and outs of the local marine ecosystem and specimen collection, a visit with WHOI (Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute) discovery center and a behind the scenes look at ALVIN and other remote operating vehicles (ROV) used for exploring the ocean. We finished with a tour of the Marine Biological Laboratory exploring organisms and biotech applications, as well as a visit to Woods Hole Aquarium… the oldest existing public aquarium in the country.

Calling all Marine Bio Trip Alumni…

Our 2024 Marine Biology Experience starts tomorrow with our classroom days. To wish this new group off to a great start, can past alumni share a favorite memory and the year they attended the trip. I think our newbies would all love to see the variety of answers.

Woo-Hoo!! Just over a month before our next session starts and look at this article that showed up in my feed. We went to Woods Hole last year and it is the most amazing community full of science, charisma, and natural beauty. One of our stops was the Woods Hole Science Aquarium and we are so excited to go back again this year.

In Falmouth, just down the road from the ferry that heads to Martha's Vineyard, is an aquarium that happens to be a piece of history on Cape Cod.

It’s kind of cool when students are able to apply what they just learned from WHOI and the role of submersibles in ocean discovery (including Alvin, the OG Titanic submersible which they saw and touched a couple of days ago), to the current situation.
