Another full class of SkyWest cadets is officially underway at FLT Academy.

The cheapest flight training option is rarely the cheapest in the end.

Low hourly rates look great on paper, but they often hide the real costs that show up later.

Advertised hourly rate means nothing if aircraft are unavailable
Limited availability leads to long gaps and relearning
Inconsistent flying increases total hours
Instructor changes slow progress
Part 61 paths often require more hours

One of the biggest things people miss is structure.

A Part 141 commercial license is completed at 190 hours. That matters. Fewer hours means less time, less money, and a faster path to your career.

Availability matters just as much. If you cannot fly consistently, your cost per hour goes up even if the rate is lower.

The real cost of flight training is time, momentum, and efficiency. Not the number on a website.
