Today, we pause to remember the lives lost on September 11, 2001, and to honor the courage and sacrifice of the first responders who ran toward danger when others were running away.

Firefighters. Paramedics. EMTs. Police officers. Dispatchers. And countless civilians who showed extraordinary courage in an unimaginable moment.

As future EMTs, our students are preparing to serve others on some of their most difficult days. The lessons of September 11 remind us of the responsibility that comes with wearing the uniform: service, courage, compassion, and putting others first.

Today, we remember those we lost.
We honor those who served.

The Woodland Community College EMT students are officially getting hands-on! πŸ’ͺ

Today was all about building the foundations of good patient care and working together as a team:

🩺 Vital Signs β€” learning the basics and getting comfortable with patient measurements
πŸ›οΈ Stretcher Operations β€” hands-on practice with safe patient movement and equipment
πŸš‘ Patient Assessment Intro β€” taking those first steps toward putting it all together
🧱 LEGO Team Challenge β€” because communication, problem-solving, and teamwork aren’t just for the ambulance!

The first skills day is where the classroom starts coming to life. These students are learning, practicing, making mistakes, supporting each other, and beginning to think like EMTs.

Another EMT class is officially in the works! πŸŽ‰

Fall 2026 has begun, and we’re excited to welcome 50 new students to the Woodland Community College EMT program! πŸš‘β€οΈ

Over the coming months, these future EMTs will learn, practice, challenge themselves, and build the skills needed to serve their communities.

Today we celebrate the hard work, dedication, and perseverance of our students as they complete their EMT training and take the next step toward serving their communities. Throughout the semester, these students have demonstrated compassion, professionalism, teamwork, and commitment to patient care.

Students from the Woodland Community College EMT Program recently took part in a Mass Casualty Incident (MCI) training at Yolo Fire Station 8. This hands-on experience challenged students to apply triage, communication, and teamwork skills in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.

From rapid patient assessments to coordinating care on scene, these future EMTs stepped up and demonstrated what it means to be prepared when it counts.

A big thank you to Yolo Fire for their continued support and partnership in helping shape the next generation of emergency medical providers!

πŸš‘πŸ”₯ Extrication Day in Action! πŸ”₯🚁

Our Woodland Community College EMT students got hands-on experience during Extrication Day at Woodland Fire Station 3, taking their skills to the next level! From patient access to safe removal techniques, students worked alongside fire personnel to simulate real-world rescue scenarios.

To top it off, students were able to witness an incredible REACH helicopter demo, getting an up-close look at air medical operations and the critical role it plays in patient care and transport.

A huge thank you to our partners at Woodland Fire and REACH for providing such an unforgettable learning experience!
