Good Morning WCC Community!!
We hope that you’re all as excited as we are that it’s Friday! As you enter the weekend and begin to take a look at that daunting pile of homework, our SI leaders would love to offer some tips to help your work time run a little more smoothly!

The Work Tip of the Week is: PARRS!

Have you ever struggled to understand the novel that you’re reading in English? Do you find it difficult to decipher what information you need in order to properly analyze your text? Well, worry no more! PARRS is a modified version of SQ3R that allows the student to properly analyze their text!! The steps are as follows:
Preview: Preview the text and take note of the headings, topics, etc.
Ask Questions: From your survey, what questions do you have about your reading?
Read (and take notes):Read your passage and take note of the important central ideas, facts, etc.
Review: Answer all questions that were asked in the “A” portion.
Summarize: Write a brief summary (without looking at the text) of all of the main ideas of the reading.
