Before coffee, hydrate first. 💧
After a full night without water or food, your body is ready for hydration and nourishment before caffeine. Coffee can absolutely have its place, but starting the day with coffee alone is not optimal.
A simple morning habit is to drink 8–12 oz of clean mineral-rich water before your first cup. Even better, take it outside with you and get a few minutes of natural morning light.
Best practice is to have a little protein before or with your coffee. It does not have to be a big breakfast; even eggs, yogurt, cottage cheese, or collagen in milk, can help give your body something steady to work with before caffeine. Protein in the morning supports blood sugar, energy, and helps keep coffee from becoming your “fuel” instead of just something you enjoy.
Sipping water in natural light gives your body two helpful signals at once: hydration after the night, and outdoor light to help your body recognize that the day has begun. Morning light supports your circadian rhythm, which plays a role in energy, sleep, hormones, and your overall daily rhythm.
Start with water, step into the light, eat a little protein, then enjoy your coffee.
Small habits add up over time. ☀️
