Third graders typically read books that build confidence, imagination, and stronger comprehension skills. At this stage, students transition from learning to read to reading to learn, enjoying a mix of short chapter books, illustrated novels, and engaging nonfiction. Stories often feature relatable characters, humor, and simple adventures, while also introducing deeper themes like friendship, problem-solving, and responsibility. Popular choices include early chapter book series, folktales, and informational texts that spark curiosity about the world around them.
Students also shared their reading reflections on Padlet, using technology as a collaborative tool to express their thoughts, respond to peers, and engage more deeply with the books they read.
