We are so excited to introduce our new Director of Field & Forest Outdoor Preschool, Nicole Corbo! Nicole has over 30 years experience as an outdoor nature based educator, and brings tremendous passion and a wealth of experience to both our Field & Forest Outdoor Programs and Attic K-12 program.

Nicole has spent nearly four decades facilitating education for learners of all ages in nature, from deep wilderness to urban parks. She is Director of Washington Nature Preschool Association (WaNPA); she is a Cedarsong Way Certified Trainer and a Washington State-Approved STARS Trainer. Nicole has consulted for schools and programs across the country to ensure that nature-based learning becomes an integral part of all education experiences. In addition to mentoring, consulting, and educator training, she has been a lead teacher at two forest schools, and she established her own program (Nature Time!) for early learners and school age students. Nicole believes it is essential that all children, preschool through high school (and the grownups who guide them), have safe and equitable access to meaningful learning in, about, and - most importantly - with nature.

Field and Forest learners utilize the natural materials around them for their play. It may be a challenge for adults to imagine a whole preschool program without any human-made toys-- but for children, it comes naturally! Without prescribed uses, materials and objects can become anything our imaginations can think of. This divergent, creative thinking practice doesn't just benefit a child's cognitive development; feeling comfortable and close with the earth, children are fulfilled and find community with all of nature; they are always at home.
