Equity Alliance MN The mission of Equity Alliance MN is to help educational institutions develop equitable learning systems and narrow the gap in opportunity, achieve

The East Metro Integration District (EMID) has been providing Culturally Relevant Learning since 1995, through professional learning and student programs in member district schools. Our current member districts are listed to the right. In 1995, the Tri-District created the Harambee Elementary School. In 2001, EMID formed the Crossroads Middle School. In 2014, the Minnesota Legislature conveyed Har

ambee to Roseville Area Schools and Crosswinds to Perpich Center for the Arts. Since the conveyance of the schools, EMID has increased its focus on providing programs and support services focused around professional learning and student programming. Our offerings in both areas have increased, especially in the AVID programs. Interest in our services also has increased in districts, schools, and individuals outside of our member districts. As part of the EMID Board’s strategic direction to grow the organization’s customer base, we have rebranded ourselves, creating an image and message that is a better reflection of who we are now versus the name “East Metro Integration District.” Some of our members and other clients are not in the “east” metro. The term “district” is harder to explain now that we don’t operate schools. Therefore, EMID now is doing business as (DBA) Equity Alliance MN.

We host monthly collaboration meetings to convene district leaders and engage in meaningful conversations about the purpose and necessity of equity work. There is so much we can learn from each other and we greatly appreciate the partnership of school districts as we work to eliminate gaps in E-21 educational opportunity and achievement.

We should always do what is right: help others when we can, lead with integrity, and be an example of the best version of ourselves!

As Martin Luther King Jr. said “No one may forsake their neighbors when they are in trouble. Everybody is under obligation to help and support their neighbors as they would themselves like to be helped."

May we honor Dr. King’s life in both reflection and in action, not just today, but every day. And may we continue to celebrate his legacy by boldly standing up for what is right and what is just.

A new cohort of students from our member districts started the Middle School Business Innovation Academy started yesterday!!

Show these students some 👍 and ❤️ to support them in their learning!

This summer program is for students entering 7th and 8th grade in the fall and is done in partnership with the University of MN – Carlson School of Management. Students participate in interactive, hands-on activities and build leadership, critical thinking, problem solving, and teamwork skills while igniting a passion for learning. Students also have the opportunity to work with local business partners, as well as University of MN staff and mentors.

Equity Alliance MN believes all students deserve to thrive in their educational communities. For over 25 years, Equity Alliance MN has worked to remove barriers and to increase opportunities for all students in educational systems.

Equity Alliance MN believes in the brilliance of every child. We believe every student has the right to feel safe and included in our schools. We will continue to work to ensure every child has the opportunity to reach their greatest potential.

We are aware that there is information being discussed on how an equity audit survey was administered. Throughout all stages of an equity audit, Equity Alliance MN values dialogue between school leadership, teachers, staff, families and students amongst and between one another. At no time does Equity Alliance MN, nor the districts we partner with, tell students not to talk with or discuss the survey with their parents. It is also standard practice that school districts inform families of any surveys that may take place. The survey encompasses several grade levels and allows students to skip or not respond to any of the questions.

We want our communities to be a place where every child can grow up to pursue their dreams and reach their fullest potential no matter their background. Challenging the status quo has never been easy. We are proud of the collaborative efforts we have made with school districts to ensure a high quality education for every student, and we recognize there is still much work to be done. We will proudly continue to work in partnership with districts and organizations to support educational equity for all students.
