There were almost no rules, no weight classes, no rounds, no gloves, and very few banned techniques. #Fighters could headbutt, hair pull, and even deliver groin strikes. It was raw, brutal, and completely unpredictable. Back then, you might see a karate black belt #fighting a man in wrestling shoes and shorts. The matchups were bizarre and the outcomes often violent. Referees had minimal authority, and fights only ended by #knockout, submission, or corner stoppage. Blood was everywhere, and many fighters walked in with no idea what to expect. It was not about sportsmanship or strategy, it was survival. The early #UFC events were controversial, often banned or criticized as human cockfighting.
