💥State Fair Dump....Cannon County 4‑H has had an incredibly busy and exciting few weeks representing our county at the Tennessee State Fair and Central Region contests! 💚🍀 Our youth have worked hard, shown grit, and made us proud in every event they entered.
🎤 Friday, August 14 – TN State Fair 4‑H Public Speaking Contest
Sophie Frye and Jase Hare competed in the Junior High division against more than 30 contestants from across Tennessee. The competition was tough, and they represented Cannon County with confidence and skill. We are proud of their efforts!
🐖 Monday, August 17 – TN State Fair Open Livestock Judging Contest
• Senior Team: Sophie Frye, Logan Mansfield & Case Richardson
Competing against 379 participants and 90 teams, this 3‑member team placed 25th overall — an impressive finish!
• Junior High Team: Remi Carpenter, Jase Hare, Landon Mansfield & Sawyer Frye
They placed 7th overall, with Sawyer Frye earning 6th high individual!
• Junior Individual: Matthew Richardson
Matthew competed solo and represented Cannon County well.
It was a hot day, but these kids hung in there with determination and teamwork!
🌲 Friday, August 21 – Central Region Forestry Judging Competition
This was Cannon County’s first time ever participating — and both teams brought home 1st place!
• Junior Team: Ada Smith, Hudson Brown, Kamden Adamson & Sawyer Frye
Top individuals: Sawyer Frye 3rd, Ada Smith 6th, Kamden Adamson 7th, Hudson Brown 9th
• Junior High Team: Sophie Frye, Jase Hare, Landon Mansfield & Logan Mansfield
Top individuals: Landon Mansfield 6th, Logan Mansfield 9th
We are so proud of these groups for stepping into a brand‑new contest and excelling!
🐮 Friday–Saturday, August 21–22 – Central Region Dairy Show & TN State Fair Junior/Open Dairy Shows
Our Dairy Club consisting of Ada Smith, Sophie Frye, Jack Smith, Jase Hare and Sawyer Frye wrapped up the week with a long, hot weekend of showing. Everyone — kids and cows — did great! We had several 2nd and 3rd place finishes and even brought home a Grand Champion Grade Heifer.
These youth have put in countless hours, not just on contest days but in the weeks and months leading up to them. The values and skills they’re building are truly immeasurable. Cannon County 4‑H is proud of every single one of them! 💚🙌
