Our Story

April and Amanda, the proud owners of Asher’s Friends Daycare, have been partners since 2005 and tied the knot in 2015. Our journey to starting a family was long and challenging, but on New Year's Eve 2022, our lives changed forever when we were chosen through private adoption to become the parents of our son, Asher. Born on January 4, 2023, Asher has been with us from the very beginning, and our lives have been enriched by his presence.

Before embarking on this new chapter, we both worked in the music division of a large internet shopping company. However, the pandemic inspired us to reevaluate our careers. During our family bonding leave, we discovered a passion for child care. Amanda brought with her over 20 years of experience in teaching swim lessons, as well as a background in teaching art, babysitting, working at daycares, and serving as a former EMT, lifeguard, and camp counselor. April contributed over 15 years of experience in teaching music lessons, including work at a music-oriented summer camp where she served as a camp counselor and drum/guitar instructor.

We began the state licensing process during our 12 weeks of leave and, after completing our certification in Pediatric First Aid and CPR, we officially opened our doors in November 2023. We were thrilled to welcome our first student on the very first day, who remains in our care full-time.

In January 2024, we welcomed two more children into our family through New Jersey’s foster system, and we are in the process of adopting them, with the finalization expected later this year. Our journey has been filled with growth and joy, and we are excited to continue sharing our love and care with the children who come through our doors.
