Dear Woodburn Community,

I want to wish you all Happy Holidays and a prosperous New Year!

I also want to take this opportunity to thank you once again for your resilience this year and your continued support as we work together to serve our students. This year has required flexibility, creativity, perseverance, and, above all else, centering our work in connection and care with our students. I appreciate each and every one of you and your ability to adapt to these changing times; we have worked together to move through any setbacks, and this will continue to be essential as we come to amicable solutions.

As we get ready for another year to come to a close, I look forward to another new beginning and hope that the end to this pandemic will soon be upon us. However, for the time being, we must continue practicing safety protocols put in place by state health authorities to help bring this chapter to a close and also for our own safety, and for the safety of those we love.

Governor Kate Brown announced in a press conference this week that she would extend her declaration of a state of emergency and add an additional 60 days. The executive order set to expire on January 21, 2021, is now extended until March 2021.

What does this mean for the Woodburn School District? By extending the state of emergency, all executive orders and the subsequent safety procedures that were implemented, including the closure of schools and other operations, will stay in place. As a result of the Governor’s most recent declaration and given our current County metrics related to positive COVID cases, we will continue with Comprehensive Distance Learning (CDL) until further notice.

Over the next couple of weeks, please take time to care for yourself and your loved ones; keep each other safe and relax and recharge as you can. We are excited to see you in the new year—in the meantime, stay safe and be merry.
