Celebrating heroism this evening.

HOMETOWN HEROES! Two farmworkers were honored for saving 20 students from a burning school bus in Madera County. ❤️

Carlos Perea Romero and Angel Zarco courageously evacuated the flaming bus filled with students on the way to school.

"Without hesitation, they acted selflessly to protect others. Our community is stronger because of individuals like them, and we are proud of their extraordinary heroism," said Madera County Sheriff Tyson Pogue. https://abc7.la/47jOKWW

It’s summer and I am seeing some people are checking in here- if you do I hope you heard I will be at Springwoods in the Fall. I am having a ball planning for the change to full-time art teacher ...with iPads. I am thrilled. Next year I might revive Wainscott Art Studio, but this year I am taking a break! Go draw something! Take care!

We had fun clay days at the new studio...all of these projects are drying out now, getting ready to be fired at paint Your Heart Out in Occoquan before their owners will get to glaze them before school starts.

Coming back to life...it’s been a year of transition and I have moved to 3610 Woodhaven Court, still in the heart of Lake Ridge, Virginia. Next week I will be having a combined clay and digital arts class focusing on thinking 3-dimensionally. We will spend three days working in clay with the theme of vehicles. Then we will start working on an animated chase scene, modeling an environment to be the setting and characters to chase each other, which we will compile into a short clip for campers to share at home. Finally campers will return later in the summer to glaze their clay pieces. There are still a few slots open if you are interested in joining either the clay days or digital days or both! Digital Art classes at Old Bridge Elementary have been keeping me busy, along with a weekly class of fifth graders at Wainscott Art Studio. Here is my planning for summer art camps: I want to have 2 week-long sessions of clay camp because it worked out so well last year. Then I am looking to do 2 sessions of digital art and animation. I do have some projects to suggest, but I want to leave some wiggle room for students to voice whether they would rather focus on more on animation or other digital art.
