Most of us were not taught how to effectively manage the difficult seasons of life in healthy ways. In fact, we were taught very unhealthy ways of coping with life, mostly by example.
As a minister, I saw first-hand how beautiful souls chose unhealthy coping mechanisms during and after COVID. Alcohol and drug use were the most common. Things are hard right now, too, for so many.
Here's the thing, unhealthy coping choices do not make things better. In fact, they often make everything worse. A person may feel like they have escaped for as long as the chemical reaction lasts, but the crash and burn stage sucks so one must stay constantly drunk or high.
May I humbly offer better ways to cope with difficult times? Below is a list of healthy coping skills passed on to me when I needed help during a difficult season. (Yes, even ministers need help) I hope it helps you like it helped me.
