Sunday was a nostalgic day for me! Fire Truck rides at the Wood-Ridge Fire Department! My grandfather Philip Algozzini was a fireman through and through. He served for over 50 years, with some of those years as chief. I have so many memories of being at the fire house and watching my grandfather drive the trucks, especially when he brought Santa through town! I enjoyed bringing my kids there this week, showing them around and having those who knew my grandfather spend a few moments getting to know my kids. A huge thanks to all that make that day possible!💙

What are the 3 top issues that need attention?

There are different issues at hand for the different schools. A broad answer would be
1. Addressing the root cause of the personnel problems that we have. Our children need consistency!
2. Focus on improving test scores (esp.Math). We need to support both our teachers and students to get the results!
3. The Doyle Expansion project.
In addition, I want to know that the budget is allocating the money towards the most vital areas, and I would like to build a system to have better transparency and open dialogue with the parents. Let parents bring solutions to the table! As a parent with children in the district I want to know that the Board understands, has identified, and is addressing the problems we face.
Owning my business has given me an understanding of running an organization, including budgeting and financial operations, office and facility management, personnel and staffing, and staying up with current research. This experience positions me well for the Board of Education, whose job it is to make sure the school district is well run.
Let’s work together for the change our children need. Thank you all for your kind words and support!

It was great seeing those of you who were at the PTA Social yesterday! I loved having a chance to sit and speak one to one. I enjoyed listening to the issues you shared and discussing potential solutions to problems. We were all able to relate as parents, despite the ages of our children. We all want the same things. We want a strong and safe education system. We want our children to get the most out of their time in the classroom. We want the individual needs of our children to be addressed and met. We want our children to be prepared and set up for success.
Thank you to the PTA for all you do in supporting our children and our schools!

Why run?
I have decided to run for Wood-Ridge board of education because I have children going to school here. I’m living their school experiences along side them. As the years pass, I learn more and more about the things that we do well, and the things we need to improve on. I believe we need to work towards building the right culture for teaching and learning. I want to understand the root cause of our problems and effect positive change to build upon them. We need to have a women and mother at the table to discuss the problems, and bring a fresh set of eyes. I believe we need research based curriculums to make sure we are not only meeting but exceeding our state standards. We need a school that sets our children up for success and prepares them for the next step beyond the high school doors. There is much work to do, and change does not happen over night, but we must continue to work for our children.
