TASK Karate Academy.com The TASK Karate Academy is operated by Sensei Kevin Johannes,(Hachi Dan 8th black belt).

Task Karate was founded in 1988, with a mission of promoting individual growth and development. It has been our goal for over 30 years that every student whatever age has the opportunity to excel and focus on improving their lives through Martial Arts practice. Classes include: Traditional Karate, Sport Karate, Aikido, Jiu Jitsu, and Fitness Kickboxing. The Academy is operated by Kevin Johannes -

Hanshi 8th degree black belt. Hanshi Johannes has been training, teaching and competing since 1977, and this year celebrates his 40th Anniversary since he began his Martial Arts journey. In addition to a traditional Koei-Kan Karate background under Inasio Anzures, Jack Sabat, and the late Brian Frost, his experience also includes participation in numerous local and international competitions. Johannes holds six MSKC State Championship titles, eight WKC National Championship titles and is the 2015 WKC World Champion in traditional weapons. His competition record is complimented by the many students who have earned their own State, National and World titles.

I’m excited about our new obstacle course! I wanted something more challenging to add to the little dragons course for the bigger kids. These obstacles are very secure with velcro attached to the base mat. It can be pulled out for use or pushed back so it’s always ready for use.💪🥷

Meet Kate, 2026 WKC National traditional forms and classical forms champion. We are so proud of how hard she works. She always does her very best and it shows in her performance.

I get satisfaction when a student achieves even the smallest victory or improvement, but this father and son team makes me exceptionally proud. The tonfa is the weapon I competed with for many years and to see these two master it makes me feel like a proud papa. Team Curlee is the 2026 WKC National Champions.

What a fantastic weekend of Martial Arts competition. All of our Team Task competitors that participated qualified to compete on Team USA in Spain this October. I’m so proud of how hard they work and how well they do.

Finally got a chance to put the Team Task highlight video together from the MSKO 2026. Special thanks to Sensei Stacey for capturing the event and coaching our fighters. This weekend is a big weekend with the WKC Nationals on Friday and Saturday and the Great Lakes Pro Am on Sunday at the U of M Dearborn Field House.
