🎉🐍 WHAT AN AMAZING OPEN HOUSE! 🐍🎉

A huge THANK YOU to all of our families, friends, students, staff, and community members who came out and helped make our Wishram School Open House such a tremendous success!

There were smiles everywhere, lots of laughter, great food, and so much fun being had by kids and adults alike. ❤️ It was wonderful seeing our school filled with families and our community coming together to kick off another great school year!

We also want to give a HUGE shout-out to Camp Jonah in Trout Lake for generously donating the use of their incredible 40-foot inflatable obstacle course! It was definitely a highlight of the evening and a huge hit with our kids! 🎉

And a very special THANK YOU to Mr. and Mrs. Duke for taking the time to deliver the obstacle course and for staying to help set it up and run it throughout the event. We truly appreciate you!

Events like this don't happen without people willing to give their time, lend a hand, and support our kids and school.

Thank you to everyone who helped make the evening so special. What a great way to start the 2026–2027 school year! ❤️🐍

UPDATE: Evacuation Orders Rescinded — School Begins Tomorrow!

We are very thankful to share that all evacuation orders related to the Avery Fire have now been rescinded.

With conditions improving and the evacuation orders lifted, Wishram School will officially welcome our students back for their first day of school tomorrow, Friday, August 28th! We are excited to finally get the 2026–2027 school year underway and see our students back in the building.

We want to sincerely thank our families, staff, students, and community for your patience, understanding, and flexibility as we navigated the difficult decision of whether to close school. Decisions like these are never easy, but the safety of our students, staff, families, and community will always come first.

Most importantly, we want to extend a huge and heartfelt THANK YOU to the incredible firefighters, law enforcement officers, and emergency responders who worked tirelessly to protect our community.

From our local firefighters, to crews from neighboring communities, to those who traveled from farther away to help — thank you! The Avery Fire was fast-moving and presented a very real threat to our community. Because of the tremendous response and hard work of these men and women, no structures were lost to the fire. That is something for which we are incredibly grateful.

We also want to specifically thank our law enforcement officers who went door to door throughout our community notifying residents of the evacuation and helping make sure people received the information they needed to get to safety. Their presence and quick response were an important part of keeping our community safe.

To every firefighter, law enforcement officer, first responder, emergency official, volunteer, and individual who stepped up to help protect Wishram — thank you for answering the call and for being there when our community needed you most.

Now, Rattlers, it’s time to get the school year started!

We’ll see everyone tomorrow morning! 🐍

Good morning. This is an important message from Wishram School District.

As a reminder, Wishram School is closed today, Thursday, August 27th, due to the wildfire in our area and the Level 3 “GO NOW” evacuation affecting Wishram Heights.

There will be no school or school activities today.

The safety of our students, staff, families, and community remains our highest priority. Please continue to follow all evacuation orders and instructions from local emergency officials.

We will continue to monitor the situation and provide additional updates as needed.

Please stay safe, and take care of one another.

🎉🏫 TONIGHT IS THE NIGHT, WISHRAM FAMILIES! 🏫🎉

We are excited to welcome everyone back to Wishram School for our 2026–2027 Open House TONIGHT! 🐍❤️

🎒💙 A BIG THANK YOU TO Security Bank! 💙🎒

We had a wonderful surprise today when Maira Schuster and Imelda Pabilla from 1st Security Bank in White Salmon stopped by Wishram School!

Maira and Imelda have been helping with a fundraiser benefiting schools throughout Klickitat County, and today they presented Wishram School with a check for $842.50, along with FOUR backpacks filled with school supplies! 🎉✏️📚🎒

We are incredibly grateful for their generosity and for thinking of our students. Support like this from local businesses and community members makes a real difference for our kids.

🎉🐍 SOMETHING BRAND NEW IS COMING TO WISHRAM SCHOOL! 🐍🎉

We are getting VERY close to welcoming our youngest Rattlers into Wishram School's brand-new ECEAP/Preschool program!

What started as an idea and a lot of conversations and planning is quickly becoming a REAL classroom—and we couldn't be more excited!

🍎 Teachers? HIRED!

📚 Curriculum and learning materials? ARRIVING!

🧩 Manipulatives and classroom supplies? HERE!

🪑 Furniture? ABOUT 90% ASSEMBLED!

🏫 Classroom? ALMOST READY!

This year, for the first time, Wishram families will have access to an ECEAP preschool program located right here at Wishram School.

ESD 112 granted Wishram 9 ECEAP slots, meaning up to nine children will have the opportunity to participate in this high-quality early learning program without families having to leave our community to access these services.

And ESD 112 didn't just help us get the program started—they have been an incredible partner in helping us build the classroom from the ground up.

Through their support, Wishram School is receiving nearly $20,000 worth of new classroom furniture, curriculum, educational materials, manipulatives, and other supplies to help create a preschool classroom designed specifically for our youngest learners.

A HUGE thank you to ESD 112 for believing in this program, granting Wishram the nine ECEAP slots, and helping us with so many of the pieces necessary to make it happen.

We also want to give a huge THANK YOU to Mr. Churchwell for working so hard to bring these services to Wishram School and our community. Bringing a new program like this to a small rural school doesn't happen overnight. It has taken months of conversations, planning, coordination, problem-solving, and persistence to get us to where we are today.

And now we get to see it all coming together!

Our teachers have been hired, supplies and materials are arriving, about 90% of the new furniture has been assembled, and the classroom is really starting to look like a preschool! Before long, we will have preschool students learning, playing, exploring, and growing right here at Wishram School.

Early learning matters. Giving children a strong start before they enter kindergarten can make a difference that follows them throughout their education.

For Wishram, this is about more than adding another classroom.

It's about bringing another important service directly to our families, strengthening the connection between our school and our youngest children, and continuing to build opportunities for kids right here in our own community.

We can't wait to open the doors and welcome our newest—and littlest—Rattlers! 🐍❤️
