Men of Music!!
Are any of you planning on going greek this semester? If so, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia may be for you. The Virginia Alpha Colony of Phi Mu Alpha is looking for new members so we can get chapter status for our colony.

You don't need to be a music major or even a musician, all you need is to be a man who loves music and wants to bond in brotherhood with others like you.

Late congratulations for our chapter on a very successful "Conduct Us" event last Wednesday.
Here are a few pictures of the event and some of or fine student conductors. This really shows that anyone, regardless of training, can make music.

This evening Brett Ketron and Sara Meade will be presenting their senior capstone recital in the Chapel of All Faiths at 7:00 PM. These two have worked very hard in their time here at UVa-Wise, and this recital will be a beautiful culmination of all of that work. Come out tonight for an amazing evening of music!

Tomorrow we will be hosting our final concert n our Music in our Schools Month concert series. The "NAfME Showcase" will feature several of our own members performing solos, as well as a performance by our Brass Quintet.
Join us in the lobby of the Center for the Arts tomorrow at 1:00 PM for an afternoon of music!

This Wednesday we will be hosting our second concert in our "Music in our Schools Month" series. The "Brass - N- Grass" concert will feature selections from the Wise Guys and the UVa-Wise Bluegrass Ensemble. Join us in the lobby of the Gilliam Center for the Arts at 1:00PM for a wonderful afternoon of music!

Due to unknown scheduling conflicts, we will be moving our public forum this evening to the choir room in the Gilliam Center for the Arts. The meeting will still remain at 6PM. We have some exciting news to share about this upcoming program prior to opening the floor for a guided discussion

The NAfME Collegiate Chapter will be holding a public discussion forum this Monday at 6PM in the band room to discuss plans for "A Day Without Music," an advocacy program for music and music education. We would encourage all music faculty and majors who are around the campus Monday evening to join us for this discussion.

We've had a great time at the 2014 VMEA In-Service Conference in Norfolk, Va. Congratulations to Wes Harris for his performance in the collegiate recital yesterday evening, and the entire chapter for receiving a chapter of excellence award for our Music in our Schools month concert series last spring. We had a fantastic time and are looking forward to the 2015 In-Service Conference back here in Norfolk.

A round of thanks to VMEA for their planning of the 2014 conference, the City of Norfolk, the Norfolk Waterside Marriott and Norfolk Waterside Sheraton for hosting the conference, and a special thanks to George Mason University for lending their marimbas to ours and Radford's chapters for the Collegiate Recital.
