For the past seven years, the Future Forward literacy program has been a cherished part of our Howe school community. What began as a small pilot effort, the “Spark Literacy Grant,” blossomed into a meaningful and impactful presence in the lives of our students and families, eventually becoming the program we know today as "Future Forward".

Unfortunately, due to funding cuts, Future Forward will not be returning next year.

Over the years, hundreds of students have benefited from this program. At yesterday’s school assembly, we took a moment to honor the incredible tutors who have poured their time, care, and energy into our students. We invited every student who has participated in Future Forward to join in a group photo—just one small way to celebrate the lasting impact of this program.

To the Future Forward staff: THANK YOU for building strong readers, for celebrating growth, for being visible and supporting students and staff around the building, and for nurturing relationships that extended far beyond the classroom.

You have made a difference, and you will be truly missed.

Our 1st graders had a roaring good time at the Timbavati Zoo yesterday! 🦁🐯They loved seeing all the animals up close and learning fun facts about their habitats. It was a day full of smiles, curiosity, and adventure. It was a wild adventure they won’t forget!🦒🐢🐒🦘

Today, Ms. Gemza's class had a shell-tastic time celebrating World Turtle Day! The kids made the cutest turtle headbands, painted awesome 3D turtle creations, and best of all, got to hang out with Pickles the tortoise! 🐢💚

Pickles loved the attention, and the students loved learning more about turtles and tortoises in such a fun, hands-on way. What a shell-ebration! 🎉

Don't forget tonight is Portfolio/Family Recess night! Portfolio Night is 4:30-5:30, and Family ​Recess is 5:30-6:30. We are looking forward to a simple, yet great night where your students can showcase some of their favorite things they have learned as well as get together to do great things as a family.

The Rafters organization has donated one ticket for every single Howe student to a game this summer! We want to give a huge thank you to the team for supporting Howe and helping us have family fun even when school is out. In order to get your ticket, you need to stop and see Mr. W in the gym tonight.

The book fair is also happening! It's still buy 1, get 1 free!

We’re thrilled to share that our annual Money Challenge was a huge success! Thanks to the incredible efforts of our students, families, and staff, we raised a record-breaking $1,078 for the Wisconsin Rapids Family Center, Inc. — the most we’ve ever collected!

At our recent assembly, we had the honor of presenting a check to the Family Center, knowing these funds will go toward supporting local families in need. This achievement is a powerful reminder of what our community can do when we come together with purpose and heart. ❤️

A huge THANK YOU to all the wonderful parents who joined us outside last Friday for our Howe School Read Out! It was such a joy to see families enjoying books together, sharing stories, and celebrating the love of reading under the open sky.

These moments remind us that reading is not just an academic skill — it's a way to connect, grow, and build lasting memories. 📚❤️
