Our first week is coming to an end. It’s so great to see all the smiles and hear all of the stories from the kids about their “extended summers!” Since we are back face to face I will be limiting my posts here unless it’s necessary to go back virtual.

Google Drive is a free way to keep your files backed up and easy to reach from any phone, tablet, or computer. Start with 15GB of Google storage – free.

I hope you are having a wonderful summer!!! I’ve already caved and bought new shoes and some art teacher’n masks!

Summer is the best time to make art! Get out and see what you can create... have you ever painted with water on concrete!!!! It’s a disappearing masterpiece!

Grant and Grove families, artwork from this year is securely packed away for distribution when we return to school. I did not want to put in bags with clothing and supplies to be smashed or broken. Some pieces have missing names and will need to be worked out with those children when we return.

5th grade artworks will be sent home with a sibling or will be delivered to the middle school.

Please remember although this is not ideal, it is the safest way to return your artwork.

It’s not goodbye...it’s until we see you again! I love this lesson because our eyes have seen a whole new unimaginable world the past couple of months. No matter where you turn...things have changed. But we must keep our eyes on the future and hope for brighter days ahead! Enjoy this last enrichment art lesson... but you will hear from me again! Watch for fun summer activities coming.

Just keep SWIMMING!

This simple craft will put a smile on anyone’s face.

1. Dip a toilet paper tube in white paint to make some large bubbles in colored construction paper. Find other items to print smaller circles.

2. Paint (2) toilet paper tubes your favorite color.

3. Cut two small rounded triangle shapes to make fins for your fish.

4. Cut out eyes using construction paper. Paint on or print on a circle for the mouth. Last using a piece of scrap form from the toilet paper tube add detail lines to the fin.

You are all doing a great job! Just keep swimming! Summer is on its way.

Today’s challenge!

LEGO self portraits. A self portrait is a picture of you. Can you create a self portrait out of legos you have around your house?

Did you know: Laid end to end, the number of LEGO bricks sold in a year would reach more than five times round the world.
