Winthrop Police and CASA conducted the 4th annual middle school aged basketball tournament at Walden St. basketball courts. This event was co-sponsored by Shannon anti youth violence grant and WINTHROP LODGE OF ELKS 1078 Beacon Grant. Former St. Mary’s and Winthrop High School 3x state champion coach Sergeant Dave Brown ran the pick up games.

As part of the “safe Parks Initiative“ Winthrop Police and CASA will be running out door open rec program for the next 3 weeks on Tuesday nights (from 4pm to 7pm) at the Walden St. basketball courts. There will be BBQ and basketball for middle school aged youth.

Grade 8 Eagles - Stella Carson

Students were chosen by their teachers based on their effort, how they treat others, and how they look out for others.

Each winner received a certificate, bumper sticker, and a $25 gift certificate to the Book Depot.

The Winthrop Elks has supported WMS for a number of years. They present this award each month starting in October and ending in May. Thank you to Gerry from the Elks for coming down to present the awards.
