A new story has arrived on the Winthrop Grade School Book Walk! 📚🌞

Thanks to Mrs. Fitzgerald’s partnership with Bailey Library, students and families can enjoy Nic and Nellie by Astrid Sheckels during the final week of school. This beautifully illustrated story follows a young girl spending the summer with her grandparents on an island, capturing the wonder and adventure of the season.

Art 101 students at Winthrop Middle School are taking creativity to a whole new dimension! 🎨✨ As the final project in their chalk unit, students are creating impressive 3D sidewalk chalk drawings using perspective and shading techniques to bring their artwork to life.

Last week, some of our Winthrop Grade School Second Graders got to see the states of matter in action while making homemade ice cream! 🍦🧪 Students explored science concepts firsthand as they mixed ingredients, observed changes in matter, and enjoyed a delicious reward for their hard work. Our 7th grade scientists put their lungs to the test during a hands-on lab measuring tidal volume and vital lung capacity! 🫁🔬 Students collected data, explored how the respiratory system works, and experienced science in action through real-world investigation and experimentation.

Last week Winthrop High School was honored to welcome representatives from the U.S. Department of Education as part of the America 250 tour — and even more exciting, Winthrop High School was selected as the only school in Maine to be visited! ! 🇺🇸

Students and staff had the opportunity to showcase what makes our school community so special through classroom visits, student speakers, engaging discussions, and musical performances.

A huge thank you to our social studies department for coordinating the assembly, our student speakers for sharing their voices, our chorus students for their wonderful performance, and to everyone who helped make this unique opportunity a success.

We are proud to showcase the incredible things happening at WHS every day!
