🌊 Scuba Tip Tuesday — Know Your Instruments 🤿
Your dive computer and gauges are constantly giving you information that helps you make good decisions underwater. But having the information isn't enough—you need to actually pay attention to it.
Before and during your dive, keep track of:
⏱️ Time — How long have you been underwater?
📏 Depth — Where are you in the water column?
💨 Gas supply — How much air do you have left?
🧭 Direction — Do you know where you are and where you're going?
💡 Don't just glance at your computer—understand what it's telling you. Know how to access your depth, time, gas, and other important information before you need it.
And remember, your computer shouldn't be the only thing you rely on. A reliable SPG, compass, and backup timing/depth information can provide valuable redundancy.
🛠️ Take care of your instruments, too: Rinse them with fresh water after every dive, keep them out of direct sunlight while drying, and store them in a way that protects them from damage.
Your instruments can't help you if you don't know how to use them. Take the time to learn your gear—and check it throughout every dive.
