Jennifer Adams, Regional Leadership Literacy Coach, and Kathy Harris, Regional Literacy Coach, led intensive, multi-day professional learning for Oconee County’s School-Based Literacy Coaches. Grounded in *Coaching for Impact*, the learning took place over a two-week period and focused on strengthening the knowledge, skills, and confidence coaches need to make a meaningful impact in their schools.
While Jennifer and Kathy intentionally designed and facilitated the learning experiences, the real magic happened when the coaches began taking ownership of their own learning. Throughout the sessions, coaches stepped into leadership roles, facilitating portions of the professional learning, engaging in authentic coaching scenarios, practicing with purposeful question stems, and learning more about andragogy and the importance of building trusting relationships.
Most importantly, coaches were given ample opportunities to learn **with and from one another**. Through collaboration, reflection, practice, and peer leadership, they worked together to develop a cohesive message about the purpose and importance of literacy coaching across Oconee County Schools.
This professional learning was not simply about learning *how to coach*—it was about building a community of coaches who are prepared to lead, collaborate, and positively influence literacy instruction and student outcomes throughout their schools.
