Winterset Varsity Baseball Defeat Creston in Substate Game On Multiple Hit Performance By Cook

Carson Cook collected four hits in four at bats, as Winterset Varsity Baseball defeated Creston 9-3 on Friday. Carson Cook doubled in the first inning, singled in the sixth inning, singled in the third inning, and singled in the fifth inning.

Winterset Varsity Baseball scored five runs in the first inning on the way to victory. Max Breeding singled, scoring one run, Carson Cook doubled, scoring two runs, Wyatt Swanson singled, scoring one run, and Drake McDonald singled, scoring one run.

Reed Smith started on the hill for Winterset Varsity Baseball. The right-handed pitcher surrendered six hits and two runs over five innings, striking out nine and walking two. Logan Peyton threw one inning of no-run ball for Winterset Varsity Baseball in relief. The reliever surrendered one hit, striking out one and walking one.

Winterset Varsity Baseball accumulated 10 hits in the game. Wyatt Swanson and Ben Porter each collected multiple hits for Winterset Varsity Baseball. Reed Smith paced Winterset Varsity Baseball with two walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, accumulating seven walks for the game. Wyatt Swanson stole two bases. Winterset Varsity Baseball were sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Ben Porter had the most chances in the field with 11.
