Have you ever kept something secret because you feared what others might think? How did it feel when you finally opened up and shared the truth?

This past week, we heard about Joseph of Arimathea, who secretly followed Jesus until his faith overcame his fear and he was moved to bold action. (Read about it in John 19:38–42 bit.ly/4B1AyQs).

Sometimes we hide our faith because we fear what others might think. Like Joseph, we can find the courage to put our faith into action.

This week there is no need to fear a visit to The Table. There is a place set for you.

An Italian Feast! Yes, house-made lasagna for dinner this is a meal you do not want to miss. Invite a friend and tell them you are paying for dinner (it's a free community dinner), but you invited them, so that is about the same.

If you’ve never been to The Table, you might wonder who comes to dinner on Thursday night. The answer is simple: all kinds of people. That’s the way Jesus welcomed people, too. Jesus shared meals with people from every walk of life. He didn’t define them by their past, their circumstances, or what they looked like on the outside. He saw their hearts.

That same welcome is at the heart of The Table. As you enjoy a meal of homemade lasagna, your dinner partners may come from a different walk of life than yours. They may share a bit of their story with you, and you may have the opportunity to share a bit of yours.

Because Jesus welcomes us, we welcome one another.
At The Table, you are seen. You are valued. You are welcome.

John the Baptist understood that his purpose was to point people to Jesus. When his followers reported that people were now following Jesus, John assured them that this was exactly what was supposed to happen. John’s role was to point others to Christ.

At The Table we work with the same purpose as John’s - to point people toward the love of Jesus. You’ll see people preparing meals, serving them, setting up, playing music, or listening and sharing a conversation. Each role may look different, but the purpose is the same: to love people well and let our service point beyond ourselves to Jesus.

This Thursday, come share an evening that has been prepared for you with purpose and joy.

After a day of fishing, Jesus asked Simon to get back in the boat and cast off. Simon - later called Peter - could have called it a day and gone home but he took this early step of faith.

Simon’s faith didn’t happen all at once. Jesus didn’t demand instant or perfect faith. Instead, He gave Simon opportunities to learn to trust Him and grow a faith that changed the world.

Maybe your next step is a simple one, too. Join us at The Table for home-cooked pot roast, friendly people, live music, and another story about Jesus. We’ll save a place for you!
