Happy 61st birthday to former Florida State Track and Field All-American and U.S. Olympic gold medalist Michelle Finn!
Now Michelle Finn-Burrell, the Orlando native was a member of the Florida State track and field program from 1984 to 1987. During her time in Tallahassee, Finn won or was part of the winning relay team for more than 50 events.
Finn was an All-American in the indoor 55 meters, outdoor 100 meters, outdoor 200 meters and outdoor 4x100 relay every year. She was also an All-American in the 4x400 relay during her junior season of 1986. Finn was part of FSU's national championship 4x100 outdoor relay team in 1984 and 1987. As a sophomore in 1985, Finn claimed individual national titles in the indoor 55 meters and outdoor 100 meters.
Inducted into the FSU Hall of Fame in 1990, Finn represented the U.S. on the world stage. At the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona, Finn was part of the U.S.'s 4x100 relay team that claimed gold. Finn left Tallahassee as the program's record holder in several events. Her fastest time in the indoor 60 meters lasted for 33 years. A 17-time All-American, Finn's FSU record in the outdoor 100 meters lasted for 35 years.
