FCEP exists to empower emergency physicians and protect the patients they serve.

Founded in 1971, the Florida College of Emergency Physicians (FCEP) is a state chapter of the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP). We are the largest specialty society for emergency physicians in Florida, representing a collective voice for the entire emergency medicine industry.

ICYMI, here is the statement ACEP posted to all social media channels yesterday soon after the news was reported:

ACEP welcomes today’s announcement by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) that it will seek additional input before making a decision about the length of emergency medicine residency programs. This was the request we, along with EMRA, made in a recent letter to the ACGME Board of Directors.

We further support the decision to launch a pilot program to gather perspectives across emergency medicine. Any proposal to change the current structure must be well-informed and include the views of all impacted parties. ACEP looks forward to engaging with ACGME in this process as we work together to ensure the best solution for our residents and the future of our specialty.
