A celebration of design & preservation. ⭐🏆

Schenkel Shultz has received the Historic Preservation Honor Award in Learning by Design’s Fall 2026 Architecture and Interior Design Awards for our Booker High School Visual Performing Arts Theatre Renovation.

The project preserves the character and legacy of Booker High School while honoring the pioneering spirit of Emma Booker, the Center’s namesake. The renewed theatre continues that legacy by providing an inspiring space for the school’s nationally acclaimed Visual and Performing Arts program.

Selected by a distinguished jury of education and design professionals, we’re proud to see this project recognized for its thoughtful approach to preservation and its lasting impact on the arts community.
