Chief Instructor Patrick Blackwelder was flying near the edge of a Florida rain shower today. With scattered showers covering the area all day, conditions were constantly changing, creating a powerful reminder of why weather deserves every pilot’s respect.

Aviation isn’t about testing your luck or seeing how close you can get. It’s about good judgment, maintaining safe margins, and understanding that Mother Nature always has the final say.

The best pilots aren’t the ones who fly through the weather. They’re the ones who recognize it, respect it, and make smart decisions around it.

Today, that respect came with a pretty incredible view.

Caught the weather moving in right as we were turning final. On the 10th lap in the pattern, Chief Instructor Patrick Blackwelder snapped this unreal view as the rain wall pushed toward the airport. Moments like this remind you why pilots never stop looking outside. 🌧️✈️
