💛 Celebrating the Life of Mrs. Shelia 💛
If you have been a part of the Phoenix Christian family for any length of time, chances are you know Mrs. Shelia. And if you were blessed enough to know her, then you know there was something truly special about her.
Mrs. Shelia was one of our most beloved VPK teachers for many years. She didn't simply teach children—she loved them, prayed for them, believed in them, and poured her heart into them. She was the kind of teacher every parent hoped their child would have.
She wanted her students to learn, grow, succeed, and be ready for kindergarten. But more than anything, she wanted every child who walked through her classroom door to know two very important things:
Jesus loves you. And Mrs. Shelia loves you, too. ❤️
That was Mrs. Shelia.
A few years ago, while working here at Phoenix Christian, Mrs. Shelia was diagnosed with cancer. For the past three years, she courageously walked a difficult journey filled with both beautiful moments and incredibly hard days. Through it all, one thing never changed—her love and faith in Jesus.
Today, our Phoenix Christian family is heartbroken to share that Mrs. Shelia has gone home to be with her Savior.
One of her daughters shared these beautiful words today:
"Tomorrow is the day we celebrate the beautiful life that my mom lived. Mom’s journey these last three years has had its highs and lows but the one thing that never changed was her love for Jesus. Her prayer was for everyone to know Him and have a relationship with Him. There will be lots of tears shed as we remember the memories she leaves behind but we will also have tears of joy, knowing she’s in the arms of our Savior.
When we talked about her service, one of the things that she said she wanted it to be was a celebration. She knew exactly where she was going."
And she did. She knew exactly where she was going. 🙏
So tomorrow, we invite our Phoenix Christian family to come together and celebrate Mrs. Shelia—not simply to mourn the loss of someone we loved, but to celebrate the beautiful life she lived and the incredible legacy she leaves behind.
Her legacy lives on in the countless children she taught, the families she touched, the teachers she encouraged, and the many lives she impacted along the way.
But most importantly, she leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, and an unwavering belief in Jesus Christ. ✝️
In honor of Mrs. Shelia, we have a special request for our Phoenix Christian families:
📖 Tell your child a Bible story.
🙏 Pray together.
⛪ Go to church together.
❤️ Talk to your children about Jesus.
And remind them that their Savior loves them—always, no matter what.
Because if Mrs. Shelia could ask us to do one thing, we believe that would be it.
Please keep Mrs. Shelia's husband, Ken, her daughters, family, friends, and everyone who loved her in your prayers. We pray that God wraps His loving arms around them and gives them the peace and comfort that only He can provide.
Our hearts hurt because we will miss her.
We will miss her smile.
We will miss her laugh.
We will miss hearing her voice in the classroom.
We will miss the way she loved her students.
We will miss knowing she was here.
But our tears are also tears of joy because we know where Mrs. Shelia is.
She is no longer fighting.
She is no longer hurting.
She is no longer sick.
She is home. ❤️
We can picture her running straight into the open arms of her Savior—the very Jesus she spent her life teaching little children to love.
“Well done, good and faithful servant.” ❤️
Mrs. Shelia, thank you for loving our children. Thank you for loving our school. Thank you for teaching, encouraging, praying, and believing. Most of all, thank you for making sure that so many little hearts knew that Jesus loves them.
Your classroom may be empty, but your legacy will never be.
We love you, Mrs. Shelia. We will miss you terribly. And we will celebrate the beautiful life you lived until the day we see you again. 💛🙏✝️
