The Twin Towers of the original World Trade Center in New York City were among the strongest and most advanced skyscrapers of their time. Completed in the early 1970s, each tower stood over 1,360 feet tall and was designed to withstand extreme forces. ## Structural Strength - **Innovative Design**: The towers used a “tube-frame” structural system, with closely spaced steel perimeter columns and a strong central core.
