A huge congratulations to Polk State Empower to Employ student Kevin Pagan, whose photograph titled "Everyday Unsung Hero" was selected as a winner of Haven Magazine's People and Places of Polk County photography contest.

Kevin showcased his work at Destroyer Media and Marketing's exhibition in downtown Winter Haven during First Friday.

Key stakeholders joined Stasi Kamoutsas and Polk State leadership Wednesday evening following the selection of Kamoutsas as the College’s sixth president. Thank you to the Polk State College Foundation and its Board of Directors for hosting, and to the many elected officials, education and industry leaders and partners who joined in the celebration — !

Thank you to the 250+ students, faculty, staff and community members who joined Polk State on Wednesday for meet and greets with Stasi Kamoutsas prior to his selection as the College’s sixth president. Everyone provided him with a Polktastic welcome and shared in engaging and productive dialogue about Polk State’s future.

Kamoutsas shared priorities, including workforce education, seamless articulation and the importance of civil discourse. He also highlighted the nearing completion of the Polk State Haines City-Davenport Campus, the launch of the College’s Welding Program and the importance of data-informed decision making.

“It is an honor to join Polk State College on the cusp of significant developments,” he said. “I look forward to supporting student success, the work of faculty and fostering community connections.”

Prior to being selected as Polk State’s sixth president on Wednesday, Stasi Kamoutsas toured the Lakeland and Winter Haven campuses, as well as the Clear Springs Advanced Technology Center in Bartow.

He was most excited to see students and faculty in action in programs including Physical Therapist Assistant, Occupational Therapy Assistant, Respiratory Care, Nursing and Engineering Technology.
