Today was fun! πββοΈπ΄ββοΈππ½ββοΈ Tampa Bay BABES Triathlon
Tampa Bays only women's triathlon is a special experience. I've been doing these since Coral started hosting them and each year is a little different depending on weather and the participants. Today was so great. Everyone is so supportive of each other. I was in transition at the start and forgot my race belt. A complete stranger reached in her bag to give me an extra one she had. That was pretty cool.
My only goal today was to find joy in racing triathlon. We lucked out with a smooth swim to start. Slow and steady. Run walk from the beach back to transition was slow, but I was OK. Just wanted to enjoy it.
The real star today was the bike. Today in only 9~miles I was reminded how much I love this part of triathlon. As I was towards the back of the swim, that meant a lot of people were already on the bike course. Once I was out there I gave it everything I had. Absolute red line, lol, but seriously if you have never rode at Fort DeSoto you may not be aware the road is extremely rough. I am used to it by now, so pushed as hard as I could passing countless participants and cheering them on, on my way. This gave me so much joy!
Onto the run, it wasn't as hot as I expected which was a blessing. Still focused on keeping my HR in check with walk breaks as needed.
It was so great to see so many friends today and to meet some new friends along the way. Overall great race day! ππ
