This we wrapped up the Organization of Biological Field Stations (OBFS) annual meeting, a weeklong celebration of field stations and connection to place. OBFS members from around the world enjoyed gathering and learning from each other, while Schoodic Institute staff joyfully showcased our work on campus and throughout Acadia.

What is everyone looking at?! In August, Acadia Science Fellow Deirdre McGrath used a drone to measure shoreline erosion at Frazer Point. By beaming pulses to the ground and back, the LiDAR tech on this drone can create detailed maps of the landscape and help us detect change over time. Knowing this erosion rate will support protection of cultural heritage sites in Acadia.
