This Memorial Day, we honor and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation.

For so many of us connected to the overseas military community, Memorial Day carries a special meaning. We grew up alongside service members and military families who sacrificed so much in defense of our country and the freedoms we enjoy today.

Today is a reminder that freedom is never free.

We pause to remember those who never made it home, to honor their courage and sacrifice, and to thank the families who continue to carry their legacy forward.

May we never forget.

Today is the day we all head home—but what a weekend it was.

The 2026 FAHS Hall of Fame Induction in Raleigh, NC was truly something special. From start to finish, it was a celebration of legacy, community, and everything that makes Frankfurt… Frankfurt.

We honored an incredible group of inductees, spanning many generations. Seeing the captain of the 1992 and 1993 football team, Chad Nighbert ’93 and the captain of the 1989 Basketball Champs, Mike Kinder ’90, there to accept on behalf of their teams was a powerful reminder of what those years meant and continue to mean.

We were proud to recognize our Mentor Honorees—Lisa Arnot, Ken Van Lew, Paul Cossell, and Ralph W. Ashland—whose lasting impact on generations of students truly reflects the heart and legacy of Frankfurt.

It was an honor to spend time with so many remarkable individuals—meeting Lieutenant General Mark Simerly ‘80, and celebrating Phim Giannakis ‘78, Louis Bond 82 , Dolores Ashland ‘81, Peter Crepeau ‘84, Kelly Vervisch ‘86, Holly Slone ‘90, Jim Ruetze ‘88, and so many others. Watching Brian Moseley ‘90 be inducted by his teammate Tommy Block was special, and Marquel’s speech was simply unforgettable. Dana Hatter ‘92 reminded us that the Frankfurt legacy continues through family, resilience, and purpose.

Our Board is the best and we could not have done it without you. THANK YOU 🖤💛🦅

A heartfelt thank you to Mrs. McDonald, Mrs Arnot and Coach Charlie Toth—for their time, their presence, and their continued commitment to their students more than 30 years later.

Most importantly, thank you to the Frankfurt Eagles who showed up, supported, and gave back—with incredible energy and generosity throughout the weekend.

Until next time…
Eagles über alles.

We’re honored to recognize Mrs. Lisa Arnot as one of our 2026 Mentor Honorees and to welcome her to Raleigh for this special weekend.

Throughout her years at Frankfurt American High School, she served as a teacher, coach, and mentor who made a lasting impact on her students. Whether in the classroom, on the court, or through student activities, she brought a level of care, energy, and commitment that helped shape the FAHS experience for so many.

Her story is one of dedication to others and a genuine passion for guiding students—an impact that continues to be felt across generations of Frankfurt Eagles.

We look forward to honoring her and sharing her story with our FAHS family.

We are deeply saddened to share the passing of Steve Dische ’75, FAHS Hall of Fame Inductee (2019).

A standout wrestler for Frankfurt, Steve earned All-Europe recognition and capped his high school career with a 3rd place finish in the European Championships. He carried that same discipline and commitment throughout his life—serving over 20 years in the United States Army, including time with Special Operations Command, and continuing his career in national security and public service.

In 2019, Steve joined us in Orlando alongside his teammates to celebrate his induction into the FAHS Hall of Fame—a moment that reflected not only his individual accomplishments, but the lifelong bonds forged at Frankfurt.

Steve represented the very best of what it means to be an Eagle—resilient, dedicated, and committed to something greater than himself.

Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, his teammates, and all who knew him.

His legacy lives on in the strength of this community.

It didn’t start with championships… it started with a foundation.

We’re excited to also welcome back members of Coach Charlie Toth’s first team (1989–90):
Scott Bailey ’90, Tommy Block ’90, and Davette Patterson ’90.

Along with 1991 Stars & Stripes Offensive Player of the Year Grover Rollins ’91, who led the Eagles in the 1990–91 season—these players helped set the tone, the standard, and the culture that would define what came next.

That foundation led to back-to-back AAA Division Championships under Coach Toth and Coach Marcus George, led by All-Europe QB/LB Chad Nighbert ’93.

This is how legacies are built.

If you were part of those years—you know.

Be there.
