⛳️ Great Lesson with Gail!
Today we used a double pause drill to clean up Gail’s takeaway, shorten up the backswing, and to create more body awareness for the fundamentals we are building in her backswing
Her tendency is to get long at the top with a reverse pivot and a very shut clubface — making low-point and face control difficult while also putting unnecessary stress on her lower back.
Our feels today:
👉 Toe-up takeaway to improve clubface awareness
👉 “Dead” wide hands at the top of the backswing to create width and keep the backswing more connected
👉 A Chest Sway feel, getting her left shoulder over her right shoe to load into the trail side instead of reverse pivoting
👉 Pause, check, then turn to exaggerate the new positions and build awareness
From both my teaching and competitive golf experience, drills are the necessary keys to exaggerate the opposite of a player’s tendency. Contact may be hit and miss while players make adjustments, but the goal of drill work is to establish new movement patterns and heighten body awareness— which will create more consistency over time
