I got to dress up this am and go sing the National Anthem at a conference! I agreed to it MONTHS ago before this stupid injury (stress fracture in my hip). I thought about canceling when I got the crutches, but I thought no... I'm not going to let this stop me from doing what I love and sharing my talent with others. Still, I felt anxious and didn't want to cause a distruption since I had to crutch from the back of the room. πŸ˜•
But everyone at the conference was super gracious, and one of the girls organizing the event held my crutches for me while I sang. 😍
I hope I did more today than just sing the Star Spangled Banner. I hope I inspired the people in that room to never give up, to keep going in the face of challenges and hard times.
Have a great day all, and don't let anything stand in your way! ❀️

The past few elections, I've been doing a mail in ballot and just dropping it off at an early voting center.
I missed the cut off this year, so I voted in person this morning. I forgot how powerful voting on Election Day is. Sure you have to stand in line, but in that wait, you get to see what America is made of!

It was wonderful to see people from all walks of life there with me today. People of all ages, races, and sexes. Poll workers announcing first time voters and strangers cheering them on.
That's Democracy at its finest.

It's not too late to vote! Get out there and let your voice be heard. 😊

On Monday, I had the opportunity to give my talk to a small group of high school seniors. These young ladies have been together for years as Girl Scouts: serving the community, building friendships, learning valuable lessons and making memories.
😊
Giving my talk to a small group is a blessing because it is an intimate setting, and I get to interact with the audience on a more personal level. I got to learn about each of these special people, and their unique gifts and goals for the future. It gave me hope and made me proud.
πŸ’—
It is my fervent hope that something I shared with them, some small bit of my story, inspired them. It is a scary and brave thing to be vulnerable and show up as your unique self; But that is my message, and I'm thankful I got to share it this week. πŸ₯°

I built a snowman today! β›„οΈπŸ’—

Those who know me well, know that I hate the cold. But my hubby loves to snowboard and has gotten our daughter into skiing, so for the past 4 or 5 years we've planned a family winter vacation.

Since my ankle is still healing, I'm not able to participate in most activities. Leading up to the trip, I haven't been feeling very excited. I asked my friends for advice on how to turn my mood around. They suggested I make a list of fun things that I COULD enjoy despite my injury. What a great idea!

And so here you have it: "Make a snowman" yielded my tiny frosty new friend. πŸ₯° β˜ƒοΈ

Now please excuse me while I go thaw out my hands 🀣πŸ₯Ά

I was supposed to run a relay race with my friends yesterday, but sadly I'm dealing with a stress fracture in my lower leg. After I found out I wouldn't be able to run, I asked a friend to fill in for me so I wouldn't let the team down. Then, I had a decision to make. I could stay home during the event and feel sorry for myself OR I could still go, cheer on my friends, and have fun! I'm really glad I chose the latter. I thought I would be sad watching everyone else run, but honestly, it was such a joyful day and it was an experience I wouldn't trade for anything! I was thankful to be well enough to show up and enjoy the day with some of the best people I know!😍
..
Let's face it, friends. Life is going is throw us curve balls and we're going to have times when we're down. It's what we do in those moments that matter! So, let's get out there and make the most of each and ever day!

The second half of 2021 has been hard for me.

In August, after having been able to return to the office regularly and travel to some of the sites that I support, we were once again instructed to work from home and travel was put on pause.

In addition, I've been battling various aches and pains that have kept me from running and working out regularly.

Yet ONCE AGAIN I'm filled with joy & gratitude as I reflect on another year gone by. I have done this exercise since 2017, and it always leaves me amazed.

You may be feeling like I have been: this year has been another waste... nothing good happened... I went through some REALLY tough things...

While all of that may be true, I bet there were also a lot of really GOOD things about this year too!

If you haven't yet, take 30 minutes between now and midnight on Friday and reflect on the year. Write each month on a piece of paper and then jot down 2-3 bullets. What was your favorite memory? Did you celebrate anything? Who and what were you grateful for?

I bet you'll find (like I did) that in the midst of another hard year, some really great things were happening! πŸ’—πŸŽŠ

🌟 Your Story Has Power 🌟

I am so grateful that the beautiful and talented taught me this lesson years ago.

Yesterday, a colleague reached out and shared with me the exciting news that she had been promoted! 🀩 We met back in 2019 when she attended a book study I led in conjunction with our Women's Impact Network. She thanked me for my vulnerability in sharing my story - particularly the lowest points of my career where I was discouraged and overlooked. She said it gave her hope and inspiration since at the time she was going through a rough patch as well.

Wow! Sharing that part of my story was very difficult and emotional for me, but I knew what I had learned to be true: "Your story has power". My courage in sharing my disappointment and struggle helped someone and that made it worthwhile. 😊

What about you? Have you been inspired by someone else's story? Have you inspired others through sharing yours? I'd love to hear about it! πŸ‘‡

I missed yesterday, but I still had to post about this incredible race on Sunday!

The race was supposed to occur in late October when temps here in FL have cooled (albeit slightly). However, the date had to be moved up since part of this one of a kind trail will be paved soon ☹ and runners wanted to experience the full loop one last time.

You can see that the trail is all clay/ sand and very hilly so it's a rough course in general, but add in the August heat and almost 100% humidity and well... it was downright brutal at times!

I've been battling knee and quad pain and was not where I wanted to be in order to run the full 9.3 miles, so I did a run / walk and just enjoyed the morning. This was made possible by all my amazing friends from who you can see in the group picture! πŸ’— I'm forever grateful for these people who support and lift one another up every.single.week!

Special thanks to for the pictures at mile 8. You made us smile and gave us that little extra boost we needed to finish strong. Also to who captured the perfect medal picture! 😍

My love for volunteering started when I was around my daughter's age (13) and continues today almost 30 years later! So grateful for our friends at who Aurora and I have supported for nearly 5 years! Fostering community and giving back in our youth is one of the powerful things we can do!

❀ give me a like if you agree! 😊

Made my friend proud last week! I helped my teenager open her first checking account! She's starting to make some money babysitting, so I figure now is the perfect time to teach her about banking and money management. πŸ˜πŸ’°

Thank you to for having this amazing option for young people, ages 13-24. This type of account doesn't require a minimum balance and will not allow overdrafts! Such a great way for them to learn without any severe penalties.

Do your kids/ teens have banking accounts? How have you taught them about managing money and the importance of saving?
