Horizon Army JROTC Program-OCPS

This year for the Hawk cadets service learning project they are working with American Legion post 419 to support their wreaths around America mission. Part of this mission is raising funds to buy the wreaths to lay on the graves of veterans with each wreath costing $17. All donations help and are appreciated as well as helping spread the word. The last day to donate will be December 2nd as the ceremony will take place December 14th. Please visit the QR code for more information on donating. Leadership from East River High School, Windermere High School , and Horizon High School met at CiCis Pizza to discuss the upcoming ball in two weeks. Cadets came out with a better understanding of the what to expect at the ball this year! Thanks to East River High School for paying and hosting the event!

Great job to both teams that competed in the 2024 UCF Iron Knight Challenge! The teams did amazing!

Another amazing drill competition in the books. We brought home some hardware for both dual and solo exhibition. Very proud of these cadets and their hard work!

First drill competition of the year. We didn’t bring home any hardware, but we will be at again next week at ERHS! All that participated learned a lot and did very well!!

Today was the last day for SFC Cervantes of his internship with the Hawk Battalion. His mentorship and insight on leadership will be truly missed by all the Cadets! The Cadet Leadership gifted him with small tokens of appreciation and wished him good luck with his retirement and to continue to Lead, Follow, or get out of our way!

The Hawk Battalion conducted a Color Guard for The Girl’s varsity Basketball for Senior Night. For a couple of the Cadets this was their first one and they did a great job! Once again an all female Color Guard!

Another Hawk Battalion Cadet joined the Army National Guard! Congratulations to Cadet Butkus!

The Hawk Battalion has partnered with the Horizon National Honor Society to tutor ELA and math skills with Panther Lake Elementary School students on Tuesdays and Thursdays until February 22.

Congratulations to another LET 1 promotion. C/CPL Scarpulla was promoted from CPL to SGT. This is a huge step and should be celebrated!
