What a week for Band & Orchestra!

From an incredible Spring Concert to celebrating our amazing 8th graders at the award ceremony, we are so proud of all the hard work, growth, and musicianship our students showed this year. Thank you to our students and families for making this year so special!

Congratulations to our Water Spring Middle School - OCPS Concert Band on a wonderful performance at MPA today! One down (two, counting orchestra), one to go!

Join us tomorrow at 6:30pm in our Cafeteria to see our Advanced Bands perform in preperation for their upcoming MPA! Both Concert and Symphonic Band will perform their MPA program and have a short clinic after they are done.

We are so glad that our 6th grade students get to participate in this field trip each year! Jazz band plays an essential role, not just in our program, but our whole school. It is a true culmination of our programs, combining concert band, orchestra, and chorus into one group that we can then show to our community. Students get a chance to play new styles of music on their instrument, learn a new instrument, or play an instrument they already know but wouldn’t get into in our primary band/orchestra classes (piano, bass guitar, drum set).

While we don’t have a jazz band class just yet, we are excited that it was added as option in our course selections! Selections may have already happened, but it is not too late to reach out to our guidance team to sign up for the class! Remember that jazz band is not open to incoming beginning band/orchestra students and that any student who wishes to do jazz band must be a part of a primary band/orchestra class as well.
